News director Bob Feldman leaves Channel 2

THE BALTIMORE SUN

News director Bob Feldman has resigned from WMAR-TV (Channel 2), station management said yesterday.

"We had a discussion Friday, and Bob decided to resign," General Manager Arnold J. Kleiner said. "It was very amiable."

Mr. Feldman came to the station 18 months ago from WTNH-TV in New Haven, Conn. Prior to that, he was assistant news director at WPIV-TV in Philadelphia.

During Mr. Feldman's tenure, the station made ratings gains. Its most impressive was with the 5 p.m. newscast this year, which added about 50,000 TV households from the previous year. That growth, though, was in large part the result of the cancellation of the early news on WBAL-TV (Channel 11). Channel 11 this year moved into a solid second place at 11 p.m., ahead of Channel 2.

Mr. Feldman's last day at the station was Friday. He could not be reached for comment.
