*In case you hadn't noticed, going into the weekend, the Yankees hadn't won any of their past four series since winning two of three from the Orioles on April 24-26.
* The Mets aren't having much luck when Dwight Gooden pitches -- but it isn't because of his hitting. Gooden has a .500 batting average (7-for-14), but the Mets have lost each of his past three starts.
* In their 7-6 loss to the White Sox Thursday night, the Red Sox had 21 men on base, but only one hit with a runner in scoring position -- an infield hit by Jody Reed. All of their runs came on walks with the bases loaded.
* In that same game, the White Sox tied a club record with 15 walks -- seven by reliever Wilson Alvarez (who no-hit the Orioles last year).
* Ex-Oriole Pete Harnisch allowed only 14 home runs in 216 2/3 innings last year for the Houston Astros. He has given up six in his past three starts, all losses.
