LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Junior Tracy Murray will leave UCLA for the NBA summer draft, UCLA coach Jim Harrick said yesterday.
"I'm very supportive of Tracy. He's given us three terrific years," Harrick was quoted in today's Los Angeles Times.
The 6-foot-8 forward was to announce his decision today. His family declined comment, saying they would wait until Murray made his announcement.
But Harrick, reached by the Times while vacationing on Hilton Head Island, S.C., said Murray told him his decision.
RTC "It's something Tracy wanted to do. A man ought to do what he wants to do," Harrick was quoted as saying.
Murray averaged 21.4 points and seven rebounds a game last season as UCLA went 28-5 and made it to the NCAA's round of eight.
Murray said two months ago that he would play a final season with the Bruins, but he began reconsidering after his fine season improved the chances he would be a high draft pick.
