Morgan's choir performs tonight

One of Baltimore's best-known exports is the Morgan State University Choir, which is one of the greatest choral groups in the nation. Tonight at 7 in Meyerhoff Hall, the choir and its gifted music director, Nathan Carter, will give its annual benefit concert.

Tickets are $12, $18 and $30. Proceeds for the concert go entirely to benefit Morgan State's scholarship fund. For tickets, call (410) 783-8000. "God's Trying To Tell You Something" -- a gospel musical about Black American life -- begins a seven-performance run at the Lyric Opera House on Tuesday.

The show stars Dennis Edwards, formerly of the Temptations, and features musical direction and arrangements by Grammy-winner Edwin Hawkins. Performance times are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 7:30 p.m., with matinees Saturday and Sunday at 3 (There is no performance on Friday.) J. Wynn Rousuck "Entertaining Mr. Sloane" was the late Joe Orton's first full-length play, and though it created a scandal when it debuted in 1964, it has gone on to become one of his more frequently produced scripts. The latest local revival of this black comedy about violence, blackmail and sex opens Friday at Fells Point Corner Theatre, 251 S. Ann St.

John Blair directs a cast including Gloria Henderson, Jordan Matter, Bruce Godfrey and Mark E. Campion. Curtain times are Fridays and Saturdays at 8:30 p.m. and Sundays at 7 p.m. with matinees May 24 and June 7 at 2 p.m., through June 7. Tickets are $8. For additional information, call (410) 276-7837.
