Spring, Cleaning

THE BALTIMORE SUN

May your dustballs scurry like tumbleweeds.

Let them gather deep beneath the beds

till there's just enough to till.

May handprints splendor your eggshell walls.

Let them grow, call them patina,

treasure them as signs of class.

Long live spiderwebs and their lovelorn cousins,

those corner ghosts without the bugs.

Wonder again at geometric wonder.

Forget all thoughts of grimy windows.

Open wide to see more clearly.

May cherry blossoms fill your floors.

The outside world's all crazy, greening,

Don't waste these blooming moments --

cleaning.
