William M. Katcef, deputy chief of the District Court division of the State's Attorney's Office, has been appointed special prosecutor tolead local efforts against drugs and prostitution.

Katcef will work with the Anne Arundel County Housing Authority to drive drug dealers from county public housing projects, State's Attorney Frank R. Weathersbee said yesterday.

Katcef will supplement the work of a team appointed last Decemberto prosecute drug cases and will assist Annapolis authorities in prostitution cases, Weathersbee said.
