MONACO -- Aaron Krickstein, the last of the seeded players in the Monte Carlo Open, moved into the final yesterday with a 6-1, 6-1 rout of Goran Prpic.

Krickstein meets Austrian Thomas Muster, who beat Frenchman Arnaud Boetsch, 7-5, 6-4, in the other semifinal. Today's final is a best-of-five.

Krickstein's climb to the final of this clay court tournament has included a victory over No. 1 seed Boris Becker on Thursday.

Prpic took the opening game then didn't win another until eight games later, at 2-1 in the second set.

"The first game I came out a little slow and I lost it and I was little worried," Krickstein said. "But I broke back and went up."

From then on, Krickstein didn't make many errors. He lobbed confidently and passed Prpic easily when the Croat rushed the net.

WTA International

BARCELONA, Spain -- Monica Seles and Arantxa Sanchez Vicario, the top two seeds, scored straight-set victories in the semifinals of WTA International Championships of Spain.

Seles, the No. 1 seed and the top-ranked woman player in the world, won the last six games and defeated Manuela Maleeva-Fragniere, 6-3, 6-1.

Sanchez Vicario needed just 69 minutes to oust her Spanish colleague and the defending champion Conchita Martinez, 6-1, 6-2.

Despite an 8-0 lifetime mark against Sanchez Vicario, Seles said today's final would not be easy.

"I think it will be a tough match," Seles said. "This is Arantxa's home court, she practices here, and she knows it so well. The fans love her here, too. I'll have to play great tennis to win."
