The Rev. Annabel Chase, a retired health aide who was assistant pastor at a South Baltimore church, died of heart disease Monday at the Harbor Hospital Center. She was 64.

Services for Mrs. Chase were being held today at the Adams A.M.E. Church in the southern Anne Arundel County community of Lothian.

She had served as an assistant pastor at Hemingway Temple A.M.E. Church, on Woodview Road in Cherry Hill, since her ordination as a minister more than 30 years ago.

Mrs. Chase worked as a home health aide for Home Call Inc. from 1985 to 1991. Many years ago, she worked as a cook at the old Seton Institute.

In the late 1970s, she did volunteer work with patients at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Born in St. Mary's County, the former Annabel Parker attended Bates High School in Annapolis. She attended Bay College for about a year.

She was formerly married to Charles Chase, a civilian employee of the Navy.

Survivors include three sons, Charles McDonald, John Chase and Paul Chase, and two daughters, Ann McGraw and Mary Chase, all of Baltimore; three brothers, Joseph Parker of Annapolis, James Parker of Baltimore and Charles Parker of Hartford, Conn.; three sisters, Alberta Blake of Lothian, Josephine Gross of Annapolis and Caroline Pinkney of Baltimore; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The family suggested memorial donations to Adams A.M.E. Church.
