THE BALTIMORE EVENING SUN

One man was killed and two others were wounded in two separate shootings in the city, police say.

About 5 p.m. yesterday, Wayne Frye, 27, of the 2800 block of Miles Ave. in Remington, was fatally shot during a dispute over drugs in the 2300 block of Boone St., police said.

Mr. Frye and a friend had gone to Boone Street to purchase drugs, police said. They got into an argument with a man who pulled a handgun and shot Mr. Frye in the hip, police said. The gunman fled.

The friend drove Mr. Frye home before he called police and an ambulance.

Mr. Frye was pronounced dead on arrival at Johns Hopkins Hospital, police said.

Police did not release the identity of the victim's friend.

About 9:06 p.m., two men were gunned down in the 2900 block of Springhill Ave. by two assailants who wore long, dark coats, police said.

Sean Jones, 21, of the 1500 block of N. Stricker St., was shot in the right arm and thigh. He was in stable condition today at Liberty Medical Center, police said.

Rosco Flowers, 22, of the 200 block of N. Monroe St., was shot in both legs. He was in stable condition today at Johns Hopkins Hospital, police said.

The victims told police that they were sitting on a big rock on Springhill Avenue when two gunmen appeared and opened fire.

Police say the shooting may have been drug-related because the area is known for heavy narcotics trafficking.
