A suspect shot to death by a Baltimore police officer after the Mount Vernon area yoking of a 49-year-old woman Tuesday night was identified yesterday as Robert C. Gaines, 28, address unknown.

Police said he had a lengthy criminal record. He was shot in the back as he struggled with Officer Michael W. Price, 22, on Lovegrove Street.
