2nd suspect seized in teen's slaying

Police have arrested a second suspect in the fatal shooting Monday night of Eric Jerome Brown, 19, who attempted to intervene during an argument among three teen-agers over a girl on a northeast city street.

Andrew Payton, 16, of the 600 block of Yale Ave. in Irvington, was arrested at 2 p.m. yesterday at police headquarters after an interview. He was charged with first-degree murder and using a handgun in the commission of a felony, police said.

Hamin Shakir, 15, of the 1600 block of Division St., was arrested several hours after the shooting and was charged with first-degree murder and a handgun violation.
