ASSAULT/ARREST: Central District -- Police arrested a Cherry Hill man yesterday and charged him with assaulting a female state correctional officer during a traffic-related dispute in the 400 block of Guilford Ave. Police said the guard, who works at the Baltimore City Detention Center, was stopped at a red light around 3 p.m. yesterday when a motorist objected to her driving. While the man and guard were standing outside their vehicles, the man struck the woman and knocked her to the ground, police said. Police said the guard, whose head struck the curb, was taken to Mercy Medical Center, where she was treated and held for observation. Michael Gagler, of the 2300 block of Terra Firma Road, was arrested and charged with assault and battery. He was being held at the station lockup pending a bail hearing.
SHOOTING: Central District -- Police said a resident of the 500 block of W. Preston St. was shot outside his home last evening while arguing with another man. Police said Wayne Davis, 34, was found lying on the pavement about 6:30 p.m., bleeding from a bullet wound to the chest. He was in stable condition today at the University of Maryland Medical Center.
THEFT: Central District -- A resident of the 4200 block of Old Frederick Road reported that someone broke into his parked car in the 300 block of Water St. yesterday morning and stole clothing valued at $100.
ROBBERY: Central District -- Police said a resident of the 3500 block of Meadowside Road in Woodlawn was walking in the 300 block of Laurens St. shortly before 11 a.m. yesterday when two men, one with a handgun, accosted and robbed her of her purse containing cash and property, all valued at nearly $50.
ASSAULT/ARREST: Northeastern District -- Police arrested a juvenile Monday and charged him with assault by stabbing a 16-year-old resident of the 6300 block of Fernbank Ave. during an argument there. Police said the suspect stabbed the victim in the arm with a knife. The victim was treated at a hospital.
THEFT: Northeastern District -- An employee of a construction company reported that someone broke into his parked truck in the 3100 block of Rosekemp Ave. over the weekend and stole a large assortment of hand and power tools, all valued at more than $2,000.
BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 4000 block of Eierman Ave. reported that someone broke into her home and stole several wooden cabinets, a ceiling fan and other pieces of property, all of undetermined value.
BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Someone broke into a townhouse at the Dutch Village development in the 2300 block of Perring Manor Road over the weekend and stole a kitchen range and a refrigerator, together valued at nearly $700.
BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Property valued at more than $1,400 was stolen from a dwelling in the 3300 block of Southern Ave. after someone broke a front window pane Monday. Two VCRs, several pieces of jewelry and a camera were stolen.
BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 1700 block of Jack Fisher Court in the Hollander Ridge development reported that property valued at nearly $300 was stolen from her apartment over the weekend. Police said a VCR, a watch and a purse containing cash were stolen.
BURGLARY/ARREST: Northern District -- Police arrested a man and were holding him at the station pending charges that he broke into the house of his ex-girlfriend Monday and then pointed a handgun at her father when he and his wife entered the residence. Police said the couple entered their daughter's home in the 800 block of Glenwood Ave. Monday night and found the ex-boyfriend there. Police said the ex-boyfriend pulled out a handgun and chased the father into another room before fleeing. Later, it was found that jewelry valued at nearly $800 was stolen from the daughter's home.
BURGLARY: Northern District -- Police reported that someone broke into a dwelling in the first block of St. Johns Road through a basement window yesterday morning and stole several pieces of silverware and jewelry, all valued at more than $8,000.
BURGLARY: Northern District -- A diamond ring valued at nearly $5,000 was reported stolen from a dwelling in the 300 block of Kitmore Road between April 8 and Monday. Police said it appeared a key was used to enter the dwelling, and several rooms were ransacked.
ASSAULT: Northern District -- A resident of the 900 block of St. Dunstans Road reported he was leaving his apartment late Monday night when a female acquaintance accosted him and pointed a handgun at him. The woman fled but was arrested a short time later.
ROBBERY: Northern District -- A resident of the 4600 block of Lanier Ave. reported she was assaulted by her husband when she told him that $40 in cash he was putting in his pocket was to be used to buy Easter candy. Police said the woman was not seriously injured and no arrest was made.
ASSAULT: Northern District -- A 12-year-old resident of the 3300 block of Chestnut Ave. was shot in the right arm with a pellet pistol in the 3400 block of Beech Ave. about 5 p.m. yesterday after another youth warned him not to throw rocks at him. Police said the victim was not seriously injured. Police said the youth armed with the pistol was arrested and later released in the custody of his parents.
BURGLARY/ARREST: Northern District -- Police responding to a burglary in the 3900 block of Greenway yesterday arrested a man for attempting to break into a house. He was being held at the station.
THEFT: Northern District -- Police reported that someone broke into a 1987 Volkswagen parked in the 1300 block of W. 40th St. over the weekend and stole several pieces of clothing and a cassette tape player, all valued at more than $1,000.
ASSAULT: Western District -- An East Baltimore man reported he was inside a house in the 200 block of N. Calhoun St. late Sunday when a man attacked him and struck him with a baseball bat. Police said the victim, a resident of the 1000 block of N. Luzerne Ave., suffered an injury to his left elbow. Police said the ,, assailant escaped and is being sought.
ROBBERY: Western District -- Police reported a woman was walking in the 1700 block of Riggs Ave. near her home early Monday morning when a man approached from behind and stole her purse containing cash and property, all valued at more than $70.
RAPE: Western District -- A 21-year-old woman reported she was in the 1100 block of N. Fulton Ave. Monday night when a man with a knife forced her into a nearby house and raped her. During the incident, the woman was cut on the ear and struck in the face. After the man escaped, the woman reported the incident to police and was treated at the University of Maryland Medical Center.
BURGLARY: Western District -- A resident of the 1000 block of N. Fulton Ave. reported that someone broke into his third-floor apartment yesterday and stole two 19-inch TVs, together valued at $800.
BURGLARY/ARRESTS: Western District -- Police arrested two men around noon yesterday and charged them with breaking into a house in the 2300 block of McCulloh St. Police said Jerry Norris, 32, of the 500 block of Gold St., and T.J. Cabbagestack, 43, of the 3200 block of Lyndale Ave., were charged with burglary and destruction of property. Police said both men were being held at the station lockup pending a bail hearing today before a District Court commissioner.
THEFT: Western District -- Police said someone broke into a 1985 Toyota at a repair shop in the 1000 block of N. Arlington Ave. and stole stereo equipment valued at more than $400.
THEFT: Western District -- Someone entered a dwelling in the 1500 block of N. Fulton Ave. Monday and stole a TV and a remote control device, together valued at more than $600. Police are seeking a 23-year-old woman.
BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- Police said someone broke into the district office of the councilmanic 4th District in the 2900 block of Edmondson Ave. yesterday morning by forcing a rear door. Police said it was not immediately known what property was taken.
ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- An employee of George's dry-cleaning shop in the 4000 block of Frederick Ave. reported she was about to enter the business around 8 p.m. yesterday when a man with a handgun forced her inside and robbed her of an undisclosed sum of cash.
THEFT: Southwestern District -- A resident of the 2200 block of McHenry St. reported that someone entered her home yesterday and stole property valued at nearly $200 and a savings account book. Police said the thief went to the victim's bank and cashed a check for $7,000. Police said a woman reportedly known by the victim is being sought.
ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Police reported that two men, one armed with a handgun, accosted a resident of the 300 block of Edsdale Road as he walked on Athol Avenue yesterday and robbed him of a pair of athletic shoes, a jacket and a 14-karat gold rope chain, all valued at nearly $250.

ASSAULT ON OFFICER: White Marsh District -- Police arrested a 37-year-old woman late Monday night after she attempted to cut an officer with a knife. Police said Officers Mark Perry and Steven Price were attempting to arrest the woman inside the kitchen of Novak's Memories, a nightclub in the 7400 block of Pulaski Highway, when she lunged at Officer Perry with an 8-inch knife. Police said Officer Price pushed his partner out of the way, preventing him from being stabbed. The woman, reportedly highly intoxicated, was arrested and taken to a hospital for treatment. In addition to being charged with assaulting Officer Perry, Dawn Clark, of the 1900 block of Dineen Drive, also was charged with stealing a microphone from a taxicab. Police said the woman took the microphone after arguing with the cab driver in front of the nightclub, and she fled into the club. Police said a District Court ordered that the woman be released on her own recognizance after her discharge from the hospital.
