Margaret T. Barker, a native of Baltimore who acted on and off Broadway and directed and produced plays, died Friday of cancer at a New York hospital.
Private services were planned.
Miss Barker, 83, was a graduate of the Bryn Mawr School in Baltimore and of Bryn Mawr College. She had homes in New York and Fairfield, Conn.
She was a member of the Group Theater in New York from its founding in 1931 through 1937. Her first Broadway role was in "The Barretts of Wimpole Street" with Katherine Cornell.
She also worked off Broadway, in regional theater,television and movies.
Miss Barker is survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
