Sally Jessy Raphael retreats from retreat

Talk show hostess Sally Jessy Raphael is selling her Bucks County, Pa., bed-and-breakfast and the family retreat next to where her daughter died. She's asking $1.8 million.

A spokeswoman denied that the Feb. 2 death of Ms. Raphael's 33-year-old daughter, Allison Vladimir, was the reason for the sale of the 155-year-old Isaac Stover House and a barn that was converted into a seven-bedroom retreat for Ms. Raphael's eight unmarried children.

Intruder reappears near Letterman's

David Letterman's personal intruder has appeared again near his New Canaan, Conn., home. A police officer saw Margaret Ray walking near Letterman's house on March 30, but left her alone. There is no court order barring Ms. Ray from visiting New Canaan or Mr. Letterman's home.

Two weeks ago, Ms. Ray tried to get a taxi ride to Mr. Letterman's from a train station. The driver refused and alerted police, who put her aboard a commuter train to New York City. Since 1988, she has been arrested six times for trespassing at Mr. Letterman's home and has spent about 10 months in prison and 14 months in a state mental institution after being convicted of trespassing.

French party urges Euro Disney boycott

The extremely conservative National Front yesterday called for a boycott of next weekend's inauguration of the giant Euro Disneyland theme park because it would "impose the American language" on France. The anti-immigrant party said park officials also have ignored demands to include European themes among its attractions.

The company that built the park denied it was excluding the French language and said that there are European-oriented attractions at the theme park that do not exist at the Disney parks in the United States."

Pornography queen may quit politics

Italian pornography queen Ilona Staller, whose breast-baring campaign tactics failed to woo voters in national elections, may abandon politics, her manager said yesterday. Riccardo Schicci said Ms. Staller, a member of the outgoing parliament, is "about six months pregnant and this result may mean that she will decide to dedicate herself to her family duties."

Bomb scare halts Ivana book-signing

Ivana Trump and a crowd of bargain hunters were rousted from a Kmart store on Long Island, N.Y., on Monday when a bomb scare forced an evacuation. Ms. Trump was busy signing her novel, "For Love Alone," when authorities began rushing shoppers from the store. An anonymous caller had warned of the bomb, police said. Bomb-sniffing dogs found nothing.

Arsenio Hall to get honorary doctorate

You could call him Dr. Arsenio Hall after today when the late-night talk-show host, on hiatus from his program, picks up an honorary humane letters doctorate from Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio.

Tomorrow Mr. Hall will be in the spotlight on Capitol Hill, testifying before a House Appropriations subcommittee in support of a plan by Rep. Louis Stokes, D-Ohio, to create a congressional select committee on violence.
