THE BALTIMORE SUN

WEST POINT, N.Y. -- No. 14 Army upset No. 10 Navy, 12-7, yesterday and ended the Mids' five-game winning streak in the process, as Chad Allen and Phil Mandry each scored four goals.

Navy trailed 4-3 at the half and never led.

There were 19 penalties.

The Cadets took a 10-4 lead in the third quarter before three straight Navy goals cut the margin to 10-7, with 12:47 remaining in the fourth quarter. Army scored the last two goals in the game's final minute.

Rick Aguilar preserved the Army lead, making 15 saves.

Sophomore Jamie Slough led Navy in goals with three and has scored at least once in each of Navy's eight games. Gardner Smith, Matt Long, John Tierney and Brian Lantier had one goal each for Navy.

Smith added an assist, as did Matt Pawlikowski and Tom Roszko.

It was Army's second straight victory in the series, which it trails 40-24-3. The Cadets prevailed last year, 11-10 in double overtime.
