State, Carroll County sued over crash

A Gettysburg, Pa. couple filed a $2.75 million suit last month against the Carroll County commissioners, the state and the man who ran into their 1974 Dodge Dart in a front-end collision on Littlestown Pike Dec. 15, 1990.

According to the couple's suit, filed in U.S. District Court in Baltimore, a car driven by William George Hudson Jr., of Westminster, crossed the center line and slammed into their southbound car near Union Mills.

Rebecca Dobos, seriously injured in the crash, spent a month at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore and several months in a rehabilitation hospital in Gettysburg, according to the suit.

Mrs. Dobos and her husband, Mark, are seeking $1.75 million from Mr. Hudson.

vTC They are suing the state and county for what they term improper maintenance and design of Littlestown Pike and Saw Mill Road, including a failure to post signs effectively controlling the speed of vehicles.
