THEFT: Northern District -- A resident of the 100 block of E. Lake Ave. reported that while his 1989 Acura was parked near his home over the weekend, someone broke into the car and stole a briefcase containing papers and personal items. Police said the property was valued at more than $400 and that entry into the car was by breaking a window.
THEFT: Northern District -- Property valued at nearly $400 was reported stolen from a 1987 Volvo parked in the 5200 block of St. Albans Way over the weekend. The owner of the car, who lives nearby, told police the thief escaped with a briefcase, a cosmetic bag and other items. Police said entry into the car was by forcing one of its doors.
THEFT: Northern District -- An employee of the city's housing authority reported that someone broke into his city-owned GMC pickup truck while it was parked in the 2800 block of Dupont Ave. over the weekend and stole hand and power tools valued at more than $300.
ROBBERY: Northern District -- A 14-year-old reported he was standing at a bus stop in the 5200 block of Roland Ave. around 4:30 p.m. when he was accosted by an older teen-ager who displayed what appeared to be the butt of a handgun and stole the victim's jacket, which was valued at $100.
THEFT: Northern District -- A resident of the 4500 block of Finney Ave. reported that someone entered her home Friday and stole video and audio equipment valued at more than $700. The victim told police that she suspects a youth she knows of taking the property.
THEFT: Northern District -- Someone broke into a car yesterday while it was parked in the 5200 block of Roland Ave. and stole property valued at more than $1,000. The victim, a resident of the Owings Mills section of Baltimore County, told police that clothing and other personal items were stolen from the car between 5:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.
BURGLARY: Northern District -- A resident of the 4400 block of Roland Ave. reported that someone broke into his home through a rear kitchen window yesterday and stole property valued at more than $1,600. Police said the burglar escaped with a compact disc player, 25 compact discs and a 35mm camera.
ROBBERY/ARRESTS: Western District -- Police arrested three men early Sunday and charged them with the armed robbery of a man who was sitting in his parked car in the 2700 block of W. North Ave. The victim told police he was in his car around 6 a.m. Sunday when he was approached by three men, one armed with a handgun, who ordered him to give them his money. After the victim gave up less than $30 to the men, they ran to a nearby house. Moments later, police arrived and entered 2767 W. North Ave., where they arrested the three suspects. Police said Courtney Cooper, 31, a resident of the house where the arrests were made; Kevin Monroe, 26, of the 1600 block of N. Dukeland St.; and Leslie Hall, 27, of the 2800 block of Westwood Ave., were charged with robbery and armed robbery. Police said all three appeared yesterday at a bail hearing in District Court, where Mr. Cooper and Mr. Monroe were ordered held in lieu of $250,000. Police said Mr. Hall was ordered held in lieu of $100,000. All three were sent to the city detention center.
BURGLARY: Western District -- Police said property valued at more than $500 was stolen from a dwelling in the 1100 block of Edmondson Ave. over the weekend after someone got in by forcing a rear door. Police said the intruder escaped with a 13-inch TV, an oak table and four chairs.
ROBBERY: Western District -- A man reported he was walking in the 1200 block of N. Carey St. around 4 p.m. yesterday when he was stopped by two men, one with a handgun, who robbed him of $20.
BURGLARY: Western District -- Someone broke into a dwelling in the 1600 block of Edmondson Ave. yesterday by forcing a rear window and stole property valued at nearly $500. Police said the intruder made off with a 19-inch TV, floor lamp and a telephone answering machine.
SHOOTING: Western District -- Police said a man who gave them an incorrect home address reported he was in the 1600 block of Delano Court around 9 p.m. yesterday when he was approached by a man who shot him in the left leg and right arm. Police said the wounded man, identified as Richard Smith, who gave an address in the 1500 block of Park Heights Ave., was taken to the University of Maryland Medical Center, where he was treated and held for observation. Police said Mr. Smith refused to answer questions about the incident or identify the gunman.
THEFT: Northern District -- A 100-year-old crock was reported stolen yesterday afternoon from the front porch of a home in the 1100 block of Walker Ave. The victim told police the antique was valued at $200 and that the theft occurred around 2 p.m.
ROBBERY: Western District -- A man who was walking in the 500 block of N. Schroeder St. around 11 p.m. Sunday was stopped by a man with a handgun, who robbed him of $40.
ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Police said a Baltimore County woman reported she was driving in the 4600 block of Edmondson Ave. around 4 a.m. yesterday when she stopped for two men who asked her for a ride. A few minutes later, the woman told police, one of the men pulled out a handgun and ordered her to stop. Police said the men then forced her out of the car and drove off. Police said the victim's 1984 Volkswagen has not been found.
BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- Household items valued at nearly $1,000 were reported stolen from a dwelling in the 100 block of Upmanor Road over the weekend after someone forced the front door.
BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- The owner of the Belmont Market in the 2900 block of Belmont Ave. reported that someone broke into his store between 3 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. yesterday and stole property valued at $30.
ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- A man told police he was walking in the 2100 block of Denison St. around 10 a.m. yesterday when he was stopped by a man who displayed a weapon and robbed him of cash and property, all valued at $12.
BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- A TV valued at more than $300 was reported stolen from a dwelling in the 3000 block of Baker St. yesterday after someone got in by forcing the front door. Police said the break-in occurred between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Baltimore County
ARREST: Essex District -- A 25-year-old Rosedale-area resident has been arrested in connection with the wounding of two men Friday near the 1100 block of Tace Drive. Police said Darryl Leonard Sutton, of the 5000 block of Marquette Road, was charged with three counts of attempted murder in the shooting of Stanley Schultz, 24, and George William Sebree, 27. The third count of attempted murder is because Mr. Sutton allegedly shot at but missed a third person with the other two victims. Following a bail review hearing in Essex District Court yesterday, Mr. Sutton was ordered held in lieu of $75,000 bail. Later, Mr. Sutton was transferred to the county detention center. Police said Mr. Schultz was in stable condition today at Francis Scott Key Medical Center. Mr. Sebree, police said, was treated and released from the same hospital shortly after the shooting. Police initially thought the shootings were drug-related, but officials said later they stemmed from a traffic dispute that began on Md. 702.
ROBBERY: Parkville District -- A man armed with a dark-colored handgun robbed a service station on Joppa Road yesterday of an undisclosed sum. Police said a man approached the pay window at the Crown service station in the 2900 block of E. Joppa Road around 11:30 a.m., opened a large manila folder and displayed the weapon. He then ordered the attendant to give him money from the cash register. After being given the money, police said, the gunman escaped on foot.
RAPE TRY: Woodlawn District -- A Randallstown-area woman reported that after missing her bus shortly before 10 a.m. yesterday, she began walking along Rolling Road from Liberty Road when a motorist stopped and offered her a ride. She accepted. A few minutes later, the woman reported, the man stopped the car in an isolated area and began fondling her. The woman reported that when she resisted, he struck her several times and tried to rape her. A passing car distracted the man, and the woman got out of the car and escaped. After the man drove off, the woman reported the incident to police.
ROBBERY: Woodlawn District -- A 28-year-old reported she was getting out of her car in the 6700 block of Townbrook Drive around 10 p.m. yesterday when she was stopped by two men, one armed with a chrome-plated handgun, who stole her purse. The woman reported said the armed man pointed the muzzle of the gun at her head and threatened to shoot her if she didn't cooperate. She told police the second man stood by with one hand in his jacket pocket as though armed.
Anne Arundel County
DRUG ARREST: Severn -- Acting on information from a reliable informant, county police last week arrested a 30-year-old man at his home and charged him with possession of marijuana that he reportedly had sent from California by an overnight mail service. Police said Troy Hammond, of the 500 block of Retreat Court, was arrested Thursday and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia. During a search of Mr. Hammond's home, police found a quarter-pound of marijuana and nearly $1,100 in cash.
Howard County
ROBBERY: Columbia -- A deliveryman for a pizza shop was robbed late Thursday night in the 6900 block of Scarlet Petal. Police said the victim, an employee of Pizza Boli's, was walking up to a house when he was accosted by a man with a handgun who demanded his money. After being given a small sum, the gunman escaped on foot. Police said an investigation revealed that the occupants of the house had not ordered the food.
DRUG ARRESTS: Columbia -- Police last week raided two apartments in the 5900 block of Tamar Drive and arrested six people on drug charges. The raids by members of the Street Drug Section and the Tactical Section came after police received a tip that drugs could be found in the apartments. A search of the two apartments led to the seizure of cocaine, crack cocaine, marijuana, crack pipes and plastic bags. The occupants of the apartments, Demetria Fenderson, 31; Linda Gross, 30; and Kenneth E. Kosh, 38, were charged with possession of narcotics. Police said Michelle A. Rose, 33, of the 6500 block of Overheart Lane, and Robert Burgess, 28, formerly of the 5800 block of Stevens Forest Road, were charged with possession of cocaine. Charged with possession and distribution of drugs was Jeffrey A. Holland, 25, of Washington.
THEFT: Columbia -- Officials of Howard Community College in the 10600 block of Hickory Ridge Lane reported that someone broke into four vending machines and stole an undisclosed sum of coins. Police said the theft occurred last Tuesday or Wednesday after someone pried off the front panels of the machines and forced open the coin slots.
