Meade soccer star Amanda Simmons, the county's all-time leading goal-scorer with 80 career goals, has scored big once more.
The two-time All-County player is headed for George Washington University where-- thanks to a scholarship -- nearly all of her educational and athletic expenses will be paid.
Simmons, a first-team All-Metro selection, will be coached by Shannon Higgins, a member of the recent World Cup champion women's soccer team. And her roommate will be Hammond's Jackie Rieschick, The Baltimore Sun's Player of the Year last fall.
