George A. Smith Jr., 34, died Tuesday...

George A. Smith Jr., 34, died Tuesday at Sinai Hospital here. He wasthe son of Hazel Snead Smith of here and the late George A. Smith Sr. A U.S. Army veteran, he was a laboratory technician. He was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church, Taylorsville. Additional survivors include a son, George A. III of Baltimore; his maternal grandmother, Mollis Snead of Delaware; and several aunts, uncles and cousins in Taylorsville.

DATELINE: Finksburg

Ruth A. Nelson, 68, died Wednesday at Baltimore County General Hospital. She was the wife of the late David H. Nelson. Survivors include sons Craig S. and Richard R., both of Owings Mills, and David W. of Union Bridge; daughter, Lisa Peregoy of here; brother, Sheldon Kirkof South Carolina; sisters Helen Sinnott of Rocky Ridge and Regina Leonard of Marriottsville; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Charles W. Therit Jr., 51, died Wednesday as the result of a shooting. He was the husband of Fay Therit. He had owned Deep Run Hardware in Melrose. Additional survivors include daughter, Amanda L. of here; son, Charles D. of here; parents Charles M. and Mary E. of Manchester; five sisters; and two brothers. Services are at 2:30 p.m. today at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Manchester. The family requests memorial contributions to Leukemia Society of Maryland,200 E. Joppa Road, Suite 102B, Towson, or the National Cancer Institutes, 9900 Rockville Pike, Bldg. 31, Room 11A-16, Bethesda.

Daisy M. Stump, 98, died Friday at her home. She was the wife of the late Vernon A. Stump Sr. and the mother of the late Doris and Vernon A. Stump Jr. The oldest active member of St. John's United Methodist Church, she was a member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union. Surviving are daughters Madeline D. Leaf of Finksburg and Helen N. Hoffman of here; sisters Hazel Knox and Hilda Smith, both of Baltimore; daughter-in-law, V. Alice Stump of here; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Services are at 1 p.m. tomorrow at her church, 1205 N. Main St.

John E. Hudson Sr., 75, died Wednesday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Towson.He was the husband of Dolores Moore Hudson. Employed by Montgomery Ward, he also was a Boy Scout leader and served as district commissioner. Additional survivors include children John E. Jr. of Baltimore, Joan L. Cochran of Florida, Robert M. of Street, Russell M. of Finksburg, Susan Murray of Eldersburg, Richard L. of here and Marc E. of Randallstown; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Eleanora D. Wise, 88, died March 22 at Longview Nursing Home, Manchester. She was the wife of the late Arthur Wise. There are no immediate survivors.

Vestine A. Albaugh, 91, died Tuesday at Carroll County General Hospital. She was the wife of the late George W. Albaugh. Surviving are a son, George F. of Keysville; sister, Marie Aikens of Georgia; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Mabel E. Love, 84, died Thursday at Carroll County General Hospital. She was the wife of the late James V. Love and the mother of the late Vernon L. Love Sr. Surviving are sons Robert A. Sr.of Owings Mills, Charles A. of Millers and Jerry W. of Pennsylvania;sister, Elizabeth Hawley of Reisterstown; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Alan H. Mentzer, 51, died Monday in Florida, where he resided. He was the son of Sarah E. Melown Mentzer of Williamsport and the late Roland C. Mentzer. He was the husband of the late Doris Mentzer. A member of the U.S. Army Reserves, he was a glazer in area glass shops. Additional survivors includedaughters Sherrill of Finksburg, Henrietta Fike and Michelle Barnes,both of Mount Airy; sisters Helen Gesford, Donna Boyd and Linda Strite, all of Washington County; brothers John of Williamsport and Harryof W.Va.; two grandsons; and a beloved friend, Mazel Sims of here.

Dolores A. Morrow, 62, died Tuesday at her home. She was the wife of the late Herman T. Morrow. Retired from Kernan's Hospital, she had been director of outpatient services. A daughter, Joyce Shipley of here, and three sisters survive.

DATELINE: Taneytown

Terry W. Higgs, 43, died Wednesday at Carroll County General Hospital. He was the husband of Jayne Bohn Higgs. A U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, he was a member of the American Legion. He had owned and operated a small business in Keymar. Additional survivors include daughters Terrina and Kimberly, both of Westminster, and Krystle of here; sister, Patricia Miller of Alabama; and his stepmother, MaryHiggs Young of Baltimore.

DATELINE: Union Bridge

William G. Skinner, 75, a former resident here, died March 16 in Arizona. He was the husband of Carolyn Bullock Skinner. A retired U.S. Army Colonel, he fought in Korea and Vietnam and was awarded three Legions of Merit. Additional survivors include a daughter, Vicki R. Day of St. Louis; son, Keoki of Mexico; and five grandchildren. The family requests memorial contributions to Union Bridge United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 460.

Nellie Howard Owens, 76, died Tuesday at Carroll County GeneralHospital. She was the wife of the late Luvear E. Owens Sr. Employed at Western Maryland College, she had been a foster parent for severalyears. Survivors include daughters Velma Green of New Windsor, Yvonne Flowers of Detroit, Alma Owens and Veleacha Robinson, both of Westminster; sons Eugene of New Jersey, Luvear E. Jr. of Columbia, George and Thomas, both of Westminster; sisters Jewell Brown and Christine Jones, and brothers George and Herbert Howard, all of here; 26 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

Edith Farr Ridington, a longtime educator at Western Maryland College in the classics and English departments, will be remembered in a memorial service at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, in Baker Chapel. A reception is set for 3:30 p.m. in Harrison Alumni House. Ridington, affectionately known as "Edie" to family, friends, and students, died of cancer Nov. 11.

Lucinda C. Weigle, 88, died Monday at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Mount Airy. Retired from T. W. Mather Store, she had been a clerk for 30 years. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Raymond E. Robertson, 91, a former resident here, died Monday in Ranson, W.Va. He attended Uniontown Lutheran Church. Hewas the last survivor of his immediate family.

Harding O. Hanson, 71, died Wednesday at his home. He was the husband of the late Mary Gladys Miller and the father of the late Robert L. and Phillip R. Hanson. A U.S. Army veteran of WorldWar II, he was a retired carpenter. Survivors include children Harding D., Julian W. and Stanley K., Dolores A. Blizzard, Diane J. Starner, Mary L. Wineholt, all of here; brothersCecil B. and William Z., both of Finksburg, and Acie L. of W.Va.; sisters Lena L. Abtey of Florida and Beulah M. Shuck of Taneytown; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Laura E. Neudecker, 81, died Wednesday at her home. Shewas the wife of the late Harry W. and the mother of the late Arlene Neudecker. Surviving are daughters Ruby Fair of Reisterstown, Frances Gardner of Pennsylvania, Ruth Frick and Mary Stahley, both of here, and Rachael Fisher of Sandymount;sons Wilson and Carroll, both of Snydersburg; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Timothy Coleman Peach Jr., 25, died Wednesday from injuries received in an automobile accident. He was the son of Timothy C. Sr. of Woodstock and Judith B. Lazarus of Cumberland. Hewas the husband of Jennifer L. Jones Peach. He had worked in construction. In addition to his parents and wife, survivors include a daughter, Brittany N. of home; brothers Aaron and Adam Lazarus, and sister, April Peach, all of Cumberland.
