ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Police today were seeking the driver of a Royal cab who allegedly stole a 17-year-old girl's purse. The girl charged that the cabbie stole her purse when she complained that he hadn't lowered the flag on his trip meter during her ride. The victim, a resident of the 1600 block of Darley Ave., told police that when she arrived at her destination in the 4900 block of Sinclair Lane around 9 p.m. yesterday, the cabdriver requested $4 for the trip and a $1 service charge. The girl told police that when she refused to pay the fare, the cabbie grabbed her purse and drove off. Police said Royal cab 333 and its driver were still being sought early today.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 1600 block of Gorsuch Ave. reported that someone broke into her home yesterday by forcing the front door and stole a 13-inch TV. Police said the property was valued at $200.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Employees of Monarch Services in the 4500 block of Harford Road reported that someone broke into the building over the weekend and stole packs of cigarettes from a vending machine. Police said entry into the building was by breaking a window.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- A 12-year-old resident of the 2400 block of Fleetwood Ave. reported he was in the 2400 block of Hamilton Ave. Saturday evening when he was pushed off his 10-speed bicycle by two older youths who stole it. Later, police recovered the bicycle but no arrests had been made.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 1500 block of Shadyside Road reported that while his 1987 Volkswagen was parked near his home between Sunday night and yesterday morning, someone broke into the vehicle and stole the car's radio, valued at $300.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Police said property valued at nearly $600 was stolen from a dwelling in the 1200 block of Cochran Ave. by someone who gained entrance by breaking a rear basement window. Police said the break-in occurred over the weekend and that the intruder escaped with a TV, microwave oven, a stereo turntable and a cassette player.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 5000 block of Plymouth Road reported that property valued at more than $1,300 was stolen from his home last week after someone gained entry. Police said the burglar escaped with a 20-gauge shotgun, several compact discs, baseball cards and a large hunting knife.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Employees of Richard's, a card shop at the Parkville Shopping Center in the 7600 block of Harford Road, reported that someone entered a rear office yesterday and stole a bank bag containing more than $500 in currency and coins.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- A 9-year-old boy who lives in the 2600 block of Harford Road reported that while he was walking in the 2600 block of Kirk Ave. yesterday after school, he was approached by two boys in their teens who robbed him of his book bag. Police said the book bag, several books and a small sum inside it was valued at more than $30.

BURGLARY/ROBBERY: Western District -- A resident of the 200 block of N. Amity St. reported she was home early yesterday when a man broke in and demanded money. The victim told police the man grabbed her around the arms and assaulted her. He left after she gave him $10.

ROBBERY: Western District -- Police reported a resident of the 2800 block of W. Mulberry St. was in the 800 block of N. Fremont Ave. early yesterday when he was stopped by two men, one armed with a sawed-off shotgun, who struck him in the face before robbing him of his wallet. Police said the gunman and his accomplice escaped with cash and property, all valued at more than $100.

ROBBERY: Western District -- Police said a woman was robbed of her purse Sunday night by a man who approached her from behind while she walked in the 1700 block of Laurens St. The victim, a resident of the 1100 block of N. Mount St., told police the purse contained cash and property, all of unknown value.

THEFT: Western District -- Police reported that someone broke into a car while it was parked in the 2600 block of W. Lexington St. yesterday and stole a leather coat. The owner of the property, a resident of the 200 block of Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd., told police the coat was valued at more than $300.

BURGLARY: Western District -- Employees of Aero Motor Sales in the 1000 block of W. Baltimore St. reported that someone broke into the garage between Sunday night and yesterday morning and stole six starters, six alternators and a kerosene heater. Police said the property was valued at more than $300.

BURGLARY: Western District -- Police reported that someone broke into the A Super Carry-Out in the 1200 block of W. North Ave. and stole cash, cigarettes and candy. Police said the property was valued at more than $400 and that entry was xTC gained by knocking a hole in an exterior wall.

THEFT: Western District -- An out-of-town resident reported that while her car was parked in the 1100 block of N. Gilmor St. Sunday, someone broke into the vehicle and stole clothing valued at more than $700.

Baltimore County

ROBBERY: White Marsh District -- Police reported a man robbed a liquor store in the 6000 block of Radecke Ave. yesterday afternoon of an undisclosed sum. Police said a man entered the Spirit Shop shortly after noon and placed an item on the counter as though to purchase it. When the clerk opened the cash register, the man reached in and grabbed several bills. After taking the money, the man ran out the front door and escaped. Police said no weapon was displayed during the robbery.

ROBBERY: Woodlawn District -- Police said a man armed with a large-caliber handgun robbed the Hi Gear auto parts store in the 6000 block of Liberty Road yesterday. Police said after the man placed an item on the counter and the clerk rang up the sale, the man pulled out the gun and demanded money from the cash register. Police said the man escaped with an undisclosed sum.

ROBBERY: Towson District -- Police said a Towson resident was standing outside a 24-hour automated teller machine in the 6700 block of York Road shortly before 8 p.m. yesterday when he was approached from behind by a man armed with a handgun who placed the weapon to the back of the victim's head and demanded money. Police said the victim gave the gunman $100. Before running north on York Road, the gunman also robbed the victim of his car keys.

ROBBERY: Wilkens District -- A clerk at the Fotomat concession in the 4600 block of Wilkens Ave. reported she was forced to give up the contents of the cash register yesterday afternoon when a man threatened her with a knife. Police said the man escaped with an undisclosed sum.

Anne Arundel County

ASSAULT: Severn -- A state Department of Natural Resources police officer was shot at over the weekend while attempting to investigate two men in a wooded area near Burns Crossing and Old Mill roads. Police said Cpl. Daniel Fischer, 28, was patroling a wooded area Friday night when he spotted two men. Following the sounds of their voices, Corporal Fischer identified himself as an officer and was training his flashlight toward the men when one of them fired at him with what sounded like a small-caliber handgun. Police said the officer took cover then chased the men. The two men eluded Cpl. Fischer and other officers, who used tracking dogs and a police helicopter to search for them.

BURGLARY: Lothian -- Police staking out a service station in the 5500 block of Southern Maryland Blvd. that had been broken into several times before arrested a man over the weekend after he broke into the station. Police said Officer John Bull and Detective Howard Ebbert had Smitty's Amoco station under surveillance Friday when they saw a man kick out a bay door panel and enter the station. The officers entered behind him and arrested the man. Gilbert Franklin, 28, of the 1300 block of Marlboro Road, was charged him with breaking and entering. Police said Mr. Franklin, who was being held in the county Detention Center in lieu of $50,000 bond, was being questioned in connection with at least seven other break-ins at the station.

DRUG ARREST: Freetown Village -- After a police officer stopped a man drinking a beer as he walked along Levy Court the officer searched him and found suspected cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Police said Leroy P. Hilton, 25, of the 900 block of Ritchie Highway, was charged with possession of cocaine and narcotics paraphernalia. Bail information on Mr. Hilton was not available.

BURGLARY: Arnold -- A resident of the 200 block of Rugby Cove reported that someone broke into his home by forcing a door and stole stereo equipment and a VCR. Police said the value of the property was not known.

Carroll County

FIRES/ARRESTS: Westminster -- Following an investigation into a series of fires inside a second-floor girl's restroom at Westminster High School, police and the state fire marshal's office last week arrested three 15-year-old students at the school and charged them as juveniles with setting three fires. Police said the female students were released to the custody of their parents pending action by juvenile authorities. Police said the fires occurred on Feb. 25, March 5 and March 6 and involved the burning of paper towels and toilet tissue. No injuries were reported in any of the fires, which were extinguished by teachers.

Harford County

ROBBERY/ARRESTS: Joppa -- Sheriff's deputies arrested two men and charged each with the armed robbery of a pedestrian at the corner of Magnolia and Trimble roads last week. Police said the victim was standing at the intersection when he was accosted by two men, one armed with handgun, who demanded his money. After the victim gave the men a small sum, they drove off in a car. Later, deputies investigating the robbery spotted a car near the scene of the robbery. Police said the two occupants of the car, Clifford P. Harbeson, 25, of the 1300 block of Dorsey Ave. in the Essex section of Baltimore County, and Gary L. McGuire, 35, of Middle River, were identified by the victim and charged with armed robbery. Police said Mr. Harbeson was later released after posting $30,000 bail and that Mr. McGuire remained in the county Detention Center in lieu of bail.

THEFT: Bel Air -- Officials at John Carroll School reported that several student lockers were broken into last week and that property valued at nearly $1,200 was stolen. Police said purses containing jewelry and money were stolen.

BURGLARY: Bel Air -- Police reported that someone broke into a house under construction on Honey Locust Court and stole heaters used to keep workers warm, kitchen cabinets and at least one dishwasher. Police said the property and equipment was valued at nearly $2,500.

VANDALISM: Churchville -- Employees of Aldino Sod Farm in the 3600 block of Aldino Road reported that someone entered the property last week and destroyed at least one acre of commercial sod. Police said the sod was valued at $7,000.

VANDALISM: Edgewood -- Police said someone roamed through the Harford Commons apartment complex last week and destroyed at least 50 trees of various types and sizes. Police said the trees were valued at nearly $20,000.
