Girl shot in eye in stable condition

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A 15-year-old East Baltimore girl was in stable condition last night at Johns Hopkins Hospital where she was being treated for a gunshot wound to her right eye, police said.

Jazz King of the 1500 block of E. Hoffman St. was shot about 6 p.m. Sunday while playing a card game with other teen-agers in her home.

It was not known whether the girl would lose the vision in her right eye, police said.

A 15-year-old boy was charged as a juvenile with assault, possession of a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm within city limits.

Shortly after police arrived at the house and the girl was taken to the hospital by ambulance, the boy was arrested and a handgun was recovered. At the time of the shooting, police said, there were several other teen-agers and at least one adult in the house.
