County offices to close

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Baltimore County government will be closed tomorrow, Maryland Day, for one of five scheduled furlough days.

County emergency services, including fire and police forces, will be operating. But all other county offices and all public libraries will be closed. County Executive Roger B. Hayden announced a five-furlough-day program in January as a way of saving $12.5 million that the state cut from funds the county expected and had already budgeted for this year.

County schools will be open and teachers will be working. Schools are on a different furlough schedule; teachers are forced to take four days off without pay.
