With victories in seven events, Morgan State won the men's title in the Towson State Invitational. Trenton State won the women's title.

* The Navy 4x1,600-meter relay squad of Kerry O'Neill, Nancy Olson, Laura Harris and Sarah Crouse set a meet record of 21:26.10 at the 23-team Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C. Susie Stewart (37:54) was first in the 10,000 meters.

Golf

Maryland captured the 19-team, 36-hole Navy Invitational with a two-day total of 629. The Terps edged Bowling Green, which finished second with a 631. The top individual score was by Maryland's Del Punchock with a 152.

* Ronan Rafferty of Northern Ireland rolled in a 35-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to win the Portuguese Open in Vilamoura by one shot over Anders Forsbrand of Sweden. Rafferty's putt for a 4-under-par 68 ended a duel with Forsbrand, whose 25-footer just missed to the left, giving him a 70 at the new Vila Sol Golf
