Architecture wins 3-mile Howard Cup at Merriweather

Architecture, ridden by J.W. DeLozier, won the feature race at the Howard County Steeplechase at Merriweather Farms in Glenelg yesterday.

Along with the three-mile victory in the Howard County Cup, DeLozier finished in the winner's circle a second time riding Snowmaker in the owner-rider heavyweight race. DeLozier began his career on the Merriweather course a year ago.

In the Alda Clark Plate races, Patrick's Butler won the first division and Beachbuilder the second division in times of 5 minutes, 51 seconds and 5:53, respectively. Gibson Island won the Founder's Cup Foxhunter race.

Sir Cassanova, ridden by Matt McCarron, won the 1 1/4 -mile Merriweather Race. McCarron is the younger brother of

thoroughbred jockey Chris McCarron.
