THE BALTIMORE EVENING SUN

Sixty-five percent of callers to SUNDIAL say the educational role of zoos outweighs the restrictions faced by animals in captivity; 34 percent would abolish zoos and aquariums. The totals are 380 to 202, out of 582 responses.

By the same percentages, based on a vote of 374 to 197 out of 571 callers, most respondents say some species of animals would be extinct without zoos.
