The Crofton Library will be decorating its walls with colorful paperchains as part of the "Link Up for Library Week." The library is asking children to fill out a colorful strip of paper with their name and phone number, along with the title and author of a book they have read. The strips may be made at home or picked up at the library.

Children should bring their finished strips into the library before April 11. The strips will be turned into a colorful reading chain.

Participants have a chance to win free pizza from Pizza Hut, freebowling at Fair Lanes, a pass to the Arundel Swim Center in Annapolis or a round of miniature golf at the Severna Park Golf Center.

AsNational Library Week comes to a close, the links will be counted and the chains measured. The results will be displayed in branches through May 11.

Last year, more than 6,000 books were read during the

monthlong event, creating a chain 1,417 feet long.
