Dulaney junior Amanda White was one of the premier performers at the National Scholastic Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, N.Y., yesterday, as she won the 3,200 meters and was second in the mile.
In the 3,200, White's time(of 10 minutes, 24.74 seconds was a Maryland record and thm 10th fastest by an American schoolgirl, supplanting Suzy Favor on the all-time list. In the mile, she chopped nearly eight seconds off her area record with a clocking of 4:56.85.
A two-time state Class 4A champion and The Baltimore Sun Runner of the Year in cross country, White set state indoor meet records in the 1,600 and 3,200 last month.
