William E. Lee, son of Kenneth and Margaret Lee of Mount Airy, has been promoted in the Army to the rank of private first class.
The soldier is a cannon crewman at Camp Pelham, Munsan-Up, South Korea.
KIM COMPLETES COURSE
2nd Lt. Kenneth S. Kim, son of Joon and Hwa Kim of Ellicott City,
completed an air defense artillery officer course at Fort Bliss, Texas.
The course provided training in the operation and tactics of the Army's air defense weapons systems, including nuclear weapons and communications, supply and maintenance procedures and air defense field exercises.
MARINE COMPLETES TRAINING
Marine Pvt. Thomas J. Krywucki, son of Thomas Krywucki of
Laurel, completed recruit training at Parris Island, S.C.
He joined the Marine Corps in October 1991.

Coast Guard Cmdr. Walter E. Hanson, son of Walter and Cordelia Hanson of Elkridge, departed on a two-month deployment aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Mellon, homeported in Seattle.
The 1974 graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy will conduct patrol operations in the vicinity of the Hawaiian Islands.

Spec. Steven G. Coss, son of Herbert and Connie Coss of Ellicott City, recently participated in "Orient Shield '92," a combined exercise with the Japan Ground Self-Defense Forces that took place onthe Japanese island of Kyushu.
