170 TAKE PART IN 3-ON-3 LAX

Anne Arundel Community College's inaugural 3-on-3 girls lacrosse tournament attracted more than 170 participants Sunday to the Arnold campus.

The round-robin tournament raised approximately $1,500, whichwill go toward a scholarship for the Pioneers women's lacrosse program.

"It was real successful," said Anne Arundel Community College women's lacrosse coach Jim Shuck. "We had a beautiful day for it, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves."

The members of the winning team from Annapolis -- Cristi Samaras, Cory Harmon, Inga Fredland, Heather Knutson and Emily Chones -- were awarded new lacrosse sticks for their efforts.

Anne Schorreck, Elizabeth Snow, Brenna Ryan, Sarah Franey and Robin Quinton comprised Severn School's second-place squad,which won lacrosse stick bags.

The winning keeper in the tournament was Paige Bowman of Broadneck, with Kate Brew of Annapolis finishing as runner-up. Bowman was awarded a new goalkeeper stick for yielding the fewest goals, while Brew was given a team bag.
