SHOOTING: Eastern District -- A man was shot and seriously wounded as he walked in the 1600 block of Normal Ave. Homicide Detective Earl Kratsch said Anthony Gillette, 23, was near his home around 2 a.m. today when one of two occupants of a passing burgundy four-door Oldsmobile fired a shot at him. The bullet hit him in the abdomen and exited through the lower back. Detective Kratsch said Mr. Gillette was taken by ambulance to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he was listed in serious but stable condition today. Detective Kratsch said information gathered from residents of the area who reported the shooting indicated that the victim was selling "burn bags," plastic bags containing fake narcotics, and that the person who shot him had just purchased one of the bags before he returned to the scene and shot the victim. Detective Kratsch said Mr. Gillette denied selling fake drugs. Mr. Gillette, according to the detective, said he was walking to a store to buy cigarettes for his mother when he was shot. Witnesses to the shooting described the people in the car as a white man and a white woman. No arrests had been made.
ROBBERY: Western District -- A man reported he was in the 1500 block of W. Baltimore St. Friday afternoon when he was attacked by two men who knocked him to the ground and robbed him of more than $400 in cash and property.
ROBBERY TRY: Western District -- A man attempted to rob a fast-food restaurant over the weekend but fled when an employee refused to cooperate. Police said a man entered the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in the 2500 block of W. Franklin St. yesterday afternoon and ordered the manager to give him money from a cash register while implying he had a handgun. Police said that when the manager refused to give the man any money, the man fled out a door.
ROBBERY: Western District -- A teen-ager with a handgun stopped two men as they walked near their homes in the 500 block of Gold St. shortly before 8 p.m. yesterday and robbed them of a total of $15.
BURGLARY: Western District -- A woman reported that someone broke into a dwelling she owns in the 1900 block of W. Lanvale St. between Feb. 25 and yesterday and stole several pieces of furniture of undetermined value. Police said the thief got in by breaking a pane of glass out of a front door.
THEFT: Western District -- Police today were seeking a woman who entered a house in the first block of N. Stricker St. over the weekend and stole $300. They said the occupant of the house suspects the money was taken by someone she knows and was expected to obtain a warrant for her arrest.
BURGLARY: Western District -- Police reported that someone broke into a dwelling in the 900 block of W. Lexington St. over the weekend by forcing the front door and stole a VCR and several pieces of stereo equipment valued at more than $1,000.
BURGLARY: Western District -- A TV and a VCR, valued at $300, were reported stolen from a dwelling in the 700 block of N. Gilmor St. after someone gained entry by forcing a rear door.
BURGLARY/ARREST: Western District -- Police investigating a burglary in the 2900 block of Parkwood Ave. arrested a teen-ager and charged him as a juvenile with burglary. Police said the youth entered the house through a window and stole $30. After being charged, the youth was released into the custody of his parents pending action by juvenile authorities.
STABBING: Western District -- A man was stabbed in the chest in the 1800 block of W. North Ave. over the weekend. Police said Aaron Atkins was accosted by two men, one of whom stabbed him in the right side of the chest with a knife. Both men fled and are being sought.
THEFT: Northern District -- Employees of Sterling Seafood in the 400 block of W. 29th St. were expected to seek a warrant charging an employee with the theft of several hundred dollars from the business. Police said the money was reported missing Thursday from a secured area.
BURGLARY: Northern District -- A resident of the 2700 block of St. Paul St. reported that someone broke into his home through a basement door and stole a VCR, compact disc player, telephone and a gray athletic bag, all valued at more than $800.
BURGLARY: Northern District -- Someone broke into a dwelling in the 1100 block of Gleneagle Road over the weekend by forcing a door and stole property valued at more than $2,000. Police said the intruder stole stereo equipment, a VCR, TV and a 10-speed bike.
THEFT/ARREST: Northern District -- A resident of the 3900 block of Colborne Road in southwest Baltimore reported that someone broke into his car while it was parked in the 2800 block of Oakford Ave. and stole stereo radio equipment. Police said a teen-age male was later arrested and charged as a juvenile with theft. They said the arrest resulted in the recovery of more than $600 worth of stolen property.
THEFT: Northern District -- Employees of the Rainbow Shop, a clothing store in the 3200 block of Greenmount Ave., reported that someone entered the store over the weekend and stole three winter coats with a total value of more than $250.
THEFT: Northern District -- Someone stole a 24-hour bank card from a resident of the 2700 block of Guilford Ave. after Feb. 3 and withdrew nearly $3,000 from the victim's bank account.
THEFT/ARREST: Northern District -- Police arrested a man over the weekend after he stole nearly $140 worth of deodorant from a shelf at the Super Fresh store in the 6300 block of York Road. Police said the theft occurred Saturday and the man was arrested before he could leave the store.
ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- A man told police he was in the 1500 block of Homestead St. around 6 p.m. yesterday when he was accosted by two men, one with a handgun, who shoved him into a nearby alley and robbed him of his jewelry and cash, all valued at more than $500.
ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Two men, one armed with a sawed-off shotgun, accosted a man in the 1200 block of Lynworth Ave. late Saturday night and stole his tennis shoes, coat and a Buffalo Bills football jacket, with a total value of more than $200.
THEFT: Northeastern District -- Someone trespassed under the front porch of a house in the 5300 block of Barbra Ave. over the weekend and stole a bicycle of unknown value.
THEFT: Northeastern District -- Someone broke into a car parked in the 4400 block of Raspe Ave. over the weekend and stole stereo radio equipment valued at more than $1,000.
ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Two men reported they were walking in the 5600 block of Moravia Road early yesterday when they were stopped by a man with a handgun, who robbed one of his wallet, cash and a jacket, all valued at more than $50; and the other of his jewelry and a jacket, all worth $700.

ROBBERY/ARRESTS: White Marsh District -- Police arrested three men over the weekend and charged them with the armed robbery of a root beer stand. Police said two men entered Stewart's root beer stand in the 8200 block of Pulaski Highway around 10 p.m. Saturday and ordered an employee to give them money from the cash register while implying one of them had a firearm. After taking an undisclosed sum, the two men fled and were joined by a third. Around 1 a.m. yesterday, Officer William Watts was patrolling Pulaski Highway near the city line when he spotted three men walking near Rosedale Avenue who fit the description of the robbers. Officer Watts, assisted by other officers, searched the three and on one of them found a sawed-off shotgun. Police said the three men were returned to the scene of the robbery to be identified by the employee. Cecil Anderson, 18; Albert Little, 19; and Jaye Jennings, 21; whose addresses were not immediately available, were charged with armed robbery and were held overnight at the police station in lieu of $100,000 bail each, pending a bail review hearing today before a District Court judge.
ROBBERY: Cockeysville District -- A 63-year-old woman was robbed last night by a man who shoved her to the floor and bound her hands and feet with telephone cord. Police said the victim was home around 10 p.m. when a man wearing dark brown clothing, eyeglasses and rubber gloves broke in through the rear door and assaulted her. The victim told police that after the man tied her hands and feet, he robbed her of more than $800 in cash and jewelry, which he placed in a jewelry box. After the victim freed herself, she reported the incident. Police said the woman sustained minor lacerations to her wrists and ankles and declined medical treatment.
THEFT: Cockeysville District -- A resident of the first block of Valley Ridge Loop reported that someone entered the bedroom of his home last week and stole a Charter Arms brand .38-caliber chrome-plated revolver valued at more than $300.
THEFT: Cockeysville District -- A woman reported that while she was shopping at the Hunt Valley Mall Saturday night someone apparently reached into her pocketbook and stole a small jewelry purse, which rings and earrings valued at more than $1,000.
THEFT: Cockeysville District -- A resident of the 2800 block of Benson Mill Road in Sparks told police that someone entered his home yesterday and stole more than $600 from a dining room desk drawer.
BURGLARY: White Marsh District -- A resident of the 6000 block of Marquette Road reported that someone broke into his home over the weekend and stole a VCR valued at $200.
BURGLARY: Parkville District -- Someone broke into a dwelling in the 2600 block of Bradwell Court in Cub Hill late last night but fled without taking any property when the occupant was awakened by a noise. Police said entry was gained by kicking in the rear basement door.
THEFT: Parkville District -- A resident of the first block of Kinwall Place reported that after several party guests left his home he discovered that a 27-inch TV and a cordless telephone were missing. Police said the property was valued at more than $700.
BURGLARY: Towson District -- Someone reportedly broke into a dwelling in the first block of Bellows Court between Wednesday and yesterday and ransacked several rooms. Police said that because of the condition of the rooms it was not immediately known what, if any, property was taken.
BURGLARY: Towson District -- Police reported that whoever broke into a house in the 1500 block of Cottage Lane between Feb. 20 and yesterday will have a hard time getting a large sum for a watch that was stolen. Police said the intruder entered the house by breaking a basement window and stole an imitation Rolex watch worth less than $20.

RAPE: Annapolis -- Police today continue their investigation into the rape of a 24-year-old woman early Thursday morning near a recreation center in the 200 block of Croll Drive. The victim told police she was walking by herself around 2 a.m. Thursday when she was attacked by a man who threw her to the ground and raped her. Police said the man ran away when several people began walking toward the area. The woman was treated at a hospital and released.
BURGLARY: Crofton -- Someone broke into a dwelling in the 2000 block of Aberdeen Drive through a door and stole a wallet containing an undisclosed sum.
