My Ignorance

THE BALTIMORE EVENING SUN

There are lessons

I have chosen to ignore

In the breaking of day

Fire orange light slashing

Exhausted blue-gray

Cool, deep blue

In a blaze of quiet ceremony

Filling, emptying, facing

There are lessons

Less obvious for knowing

In ominous glad tidings

In soft-sigh whisperings

Of tornadoes and hurricanes hiding

Calm quietly coming to a violent end

My ignorance is still insisting

On knowledge of your skin

On kisses fated to end

Pleasure lessons

A momentary "us"

A little learning

Dangerous, dangerous
