Los Angeles Kings center Wayne Gretzky, the NHL's scoring leader, will miss at least one game because of a sprained right knee, it was announced yesterday.
"He's listed day-to-day," said Sue Carpenter, the Kings' director of media relations. "He will not play [tonight] against Quebec. It's hoped he'll play Saturday night [against the Montreal Canadiens]."
Gretzky left Tuesday night's 4-3 victory over the Canucks at Vancouver with 6:10 gone in the third period and didn't return.
"It's a little sore," he said of his knee. "I was concerned in the last minutes of the game because I couldn't play."
* Eric Lindros, currently on a skiing holiday in the Alps, reportedly is considering an offer to join San Diego of the International Hockey League in a deal that would pay him $500,000 for the rest of this season.
Lindros, the No. 1 pick in the NHL draft last June, has refused to sign with Quebec and the Nordiques have been unable to change his mind.
