The five films nominated for best picture...

THE BALTIMORE EVENING SUN

The five films nominated for best picture in the Academy Awards competition were "JFK," a controversial look at the assassination of President John F. Kennedy; "Beauty and the Beast," the first full-length cartoon feature ever nominated for best picture; "Bugsy," a period drama about gangster Bugsy Siegel; "The Silence of the Lambs," a psychological thriller about a serial killer, and "The Prince of Tides," a drama about a Southern football coach with a troubled past who is helped by a New York City psychiatrist. The awards will be broadcast live March 30.

The Evening Sun would like to know which movie you believe should win: "The Prince of Tides," "The Silence of the Lambs," "Bugsy," "Beauty and the Beast" or "JFK?" Not nominated was "Terminator 2: Judgment Day," the biggest money-maker of the year. Do you feel it should have been?

To register your opinion, call SUNDIAL at 783-1800 (or 268-7736 in Anne Arundel County) today through midnight Sunday. After you hear the greeting, you'll be asked to punch in a four-digit code on your touch-tone phone. Punch 4600 and you'll be connected with "It's Your Call," The Evening Sun's phone survey on topical issues.

"It's Your Call" represents a sampling of opinions from certain segments of the community, but it is not balanced demographically, as would be done in a scientific public opinion poll.

Look for the results in Monday's Evening Sun.
