For the second straight game, the Mountaineers (6-20, 3-12) lost a sizable lead late in regulation and then saw the game slip away in overtime. It was the team's 17th straight road loss dating to last year.
The Mount led, 80-72, after Jeff Hall hit a short jump shot with 3:56 to play. The Colonials (15-10, 11-3) scored the next five points and got within 80-77 on a pair of free throws by Myron Walker with 2:46 to go. Freshman Michael Watson, who finished with a career-high 28 points for the Mountaineers, pushed the advantage back to five with a baseline drive with 2:30 to play.
Walker, who outscored the Mount's Kevin Booth 32-28 in a battle of the NEC's top scorers, cut the gap to 82-79 with 2:13 left; Walker hit a foul shot, and with 34 seconds left, Ricky Cannon tied the score with a tip-in.
After Robert Morris used its final timeout, Joe Falletta missed a short jump shot, but the visitors disdained the timeout, and Booth drove the lane, only to get tied up. The ball rolled out to Chad Stull, who was called for traveling with six seconds to go, forcing the overtime.
In the extra period, the Mount took its last lead when Watson hit a pair of free throws, but the Colonials' Wade Timmerson made a three-point shot to give his side the lead for good.
