A Prince George's County man has been ordered held without bail on charges of slaying another man by shooting him 14 times during an argument in Laurel over the sale of several guns, including a MAC-10 assault weapon.

Sean Christopher Cartee, 20, of the 7000 block of Hanover Parkway in Greenbelt, was charged with first-degree murder in theslaying Monday of Kevin Marcell Braxton, 26, of no fixed address.

Braxton had been shot with a 9mm Beretta semiautomatic handgun that holds 16 shots in a magazine, county police homicide Detective Donald Hauf said.

Hauf said Braxton and Carter had driven to the end of Red Clay Road in Laurel about 12:30 a.m. Monday to discuss the final details of the sale of a MAC-10 assault weapon. Carter told investigators he had given Braxton $600 for the gun, Hauf said.

According to charging documents, while the pair was talking, Braxton reached into his pants. Thinking he was reaching for a gun, police said, Cartee allegedly took out the 9mm and shot Braxton.

Braxton did not have a weapon on him when he was found by police.

Police received a tip from Cartee's roommate who said Cartee called him at his job at 2:30 a.m. Monday, the charging documents said. Cartee said he had something important to tell him, police said.

About an hour later, Cartee arrived at the Bendix Corp. in Seabrook, Prince George's County, and the two men went into the parking lot. Cartee told his roommate that he had borrowed his Toyota 4-Runner truck and used his 9mm handgun, charging documents said.

About 3 p.m. Monday, police went to Cartee's home and arrested him as he tried to leave, Hauf said.

Haufsaid police also confiscated crack cocaine from the truck and several guns from the Greenbelt apartment.
