Benjamin Lewis Cole, longtime owner of B.L. Cole Insurance Agency in his hometown of Perryville, died Friday of heart failure at Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre De Grace. He was 72.

Services for Mr. Cole will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Perryville Presbyterian Church, 710 Broad St., Perryville.

He opened his insurance company in 1949 and was its sole owner until he retired in 1985 and turned it over to a niece, Vivian Wallace.

Mr. Cole was a life member and served as an elder at Perryville Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are a brother, Rodney M. Cole of Perryville; three nieces, Vivian C. Wallace and Nancy J. Huss, both of Perryville, and Kimberly C. Morrison of Aberdeen; a nephew, Rodney L. Cole of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and 10 great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family suggests that contributions be made in memory of his mother, Vergie F. Cole, to the Perryville Presbyterian Church in -- care of Patterson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 188, Perryville 21903.
