Champion, runner-up are back for Fair Lanes Open


Pete Weber returns to defend his championship and runner-up Del Ballard also is back for the $150,000 Fair Lanes PBA Open at Fair Lanes Woodlawn. This is the 23rd year for the local tournament sponsored by Fair Lanes, the second oldest in the nation.

The winner can earn $31,000 when action begins next Sunday with Youth and Adult pro-ams.

JTC Pros will qualify the next day, and they will practice and hold an autograph session Feb. 18. The Fair Lanes PBA Open begins Feb. 19 and continues through the 3 p.m. televised finals on Feb. 22.

Parkville's Danny Wiseman won the last tournament at Woodlawn in 1990, and Ron Bell won at Woodlawn in 1989. Both will be among the 160 competing pros.


Duckpin champ: Mike Steinert of Middle River won the Lord Baltimore Duckpin Tournament championship last Sunday at Fair Lanes Westview, rolling 155-147-190-217-145854.

Mike Hamilton of Elkridge was second (144-182-151-151-181809), followed by Eddie Darling of Laurel (208-163-126-143-161801), Tom Ramsburg of Frederick (182-141-152-144-180799) and Joe Holden of Baltimore (151-127-150-176-192796).
