Welsh lifts Thunder over Blazers, 18-17

BOSTON -- The Baltimore Thunder defeated the Boston Blazers, 18-17, last night before 5,598 at Boston Garden.

The Thunder's Pat Welsh was the game Most Valuable Player, with three goals and three assists. Rick Sowell added three goals and two assists.

The Blazers' leading scorer was Toby Boucher, with four goals and one assist.

The Thunder improved its record to 3-1, and is in first place in the American Division. The Blazers fell to 2-2, and are second in the National Division.
