The thieves who burglarized a Linthicum model home Monday night found the effort wasn't worth the trouble.
The burglars broke into a home in the 400 block of Hollins Ferry Road, pulled a safe out of a wall in the dining room and used screwdrivers to force it open, police said. Nothing was stolen and the safe was empty.
Investigators said the thieves probably entered the home through an unlocked door. Police found clothing, a blanket, deodorant and toothpaste in the basement of the home, leading them to believe someone had been sleeping in the vacant house.
MOTORS STOLEN FROM BOATS AT PASADENA
The outdrive portion of two boat motors were stolen from boats dry-docked at a Pasadena marina, county police reported.
Police said the parts were taken sometime during the night of Jan. 29 fromboats at the Pinehurst Marina, in the 8200 block of Riverside Drive.
Investigators found a large set of tire tracks leading away from the boats, the police report said.
The value of the outdrives was placed at $9,000.
3 AT BWI CHARGED WITH SMUGGLING
Two women and a teen-age girl stepped off an Air Jamaican flight Tuesday night and into the arms of state police narcotics officers at Baltimore-Washington International airport, who arrested them and confiscated 15 pounds of cocaine.
Police say they found the cocaine, with a street valueof $800,000, in shampoo bottles in the women's luggage. The cocaine had been mixed with shampoo to make a pasty substance, said Trooper J. Scott McCauley, spokesman for the state police Drug Interdiction Unit.
McCauley said he did not know how the drug would be separated from the shampoo.
The trooper said customs agents noticed the three, all residents of Canada, acting suspiciously after they deplaned, and they called police. A search of their luggage uncovered the bottles and their contents.
Sheila Langdon, 37, and Andrea Yvette Plummer, 19, were charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of cocaine and smuggling more than 28 grams of the druginto the state.
A 16-year-old girl was charged with juvenile delinquency, McCauley said.
Langdon and Plummer were being held yesterday in the county Detention Center on $100,000 bonds.
The 16-year-old was taken to Waxter's Children's Center in Maryland City.
CITY MAN ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGES
An Annapolis man was arrested Tuesday night on drug charges after a police officer reported seeing him conceal a packet of cocaine in his pocket.
Charles A. Coates, 30, of the 1800 block of Bowman Court, was charged with possession and distribution of cocaine, police said.
He was found with five small packs of cocaine worth $100 each, police said.
WOMAN'S PURSE STOLEN ON SPA RD.
An Annapolis woman had her purse snatched Tuesday night as shewas walking from her car to her apartment on Spa Road, police said.
Karen Mack, of the 1000 block of Spa Road, told police that she was heading toward her apartment at about 9:50 p.m. when a man ran up and pulled her purse off her shoulder.
The suspect was described asa black man, about 6 feet tall and weighing 200 pounds.
