CHILD INJURED: Western District -- An investigation was under way today to determine how a 22-month-old boy was scalded last night in his home. Western District police said Tareem Mauling, of the 800 block of N. Gilmor St., was admitted to the regional burn unit at the Francis Scott Key Medical Center for treatment of second-degree burns of the right wrist, right thigh and right foot after his mother found him crying in the second-floor hallway outside a bathroom. His condition was listed as good. The mother, Tanzardar Bell, 20, told police she was fixing a meal in the kitchen around 9:30 p.m. while Tareem was asleep in a second-floor bedroom when she heard the child crying. The mother told police she found the boy standing in the hallway and he appeared to be aggravated by his clothing. Bell said she removed the clothing and noticed some of his skin peeling off. Police said she went into the bathroom and turned off the water running in the tub. When police arrived a few minutes later, they found less than two inches of hot water in the tub and water going down the drain.
