An accident at the Bel Air Auto Auction on U.S. 1 on Thursday injured two men, sending one of them to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Police said the accident, which took place at about 12:30 p.m., occurred when a 1982 Chevrolet station wagon that was being driven to the auction block accelerated suddenly and struck the men, who were standing about 10 feet in front of it.

Police said the driver in the car said the accelerator stuck.

Halie Sadik, 32, of Washington and Donald Richardson, 53, of Street were thrown into the air by the collision. The car hit Sadik, and Richardson was grazed by a side mirror.

Sadik, who received severe head and back injuries, was flown to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was in serious condition. Richardson, who had back, neck and rib injuries, was taken to Fallston General Hospital and released after being treated. The Sheriff's Office is investigating.


During an investigation into a break-in and theft at the Advanced Polishing Systems, Bel Air police said they discovered an employee with an automobile that had been reported stolen in Pennsylvania.

Police said the car cleaning company, at 201 D Gateway Drive, was broken into through a rear door late Jan. 21 or onthe morning of Jan. 22.

The thieves took $9,200, the company checkbook and a number of documents.

In addition, a dark green 1991 Chevrolet Corvette RZ-1 and a red 1990 Plymouth Voyager LE with wood grain paneling were stolen. The Corvette was valued at $37,000 and the Plymouth at $11,000.

Bel Air police said, in the course of their investigation, they discovered a 1990 Corvette that an employee was driving had been stolen from the Manheim Auto Auction in Pennsylvania in October 1991.

Police said they have not charged anyone with the theft of this vehicle and that it has been returned to its owner while they continue the investigation.

S. Philadelphia Boulevard: Four tires and wheels, worth $726, were taken from Cook Motor Cars Ltd on Jan. 23, the Aberdeen Police Department said.


3300 block White Oak Drive: Toll tickets, cassette radio, cassette tapes and a light, worth $772, were taken from a parked vehicle on Jan. 23, the county Sheriff's Office said.
