Catoctin Mountain Park plans Winter Wonderland

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Get out and join the winter fun at Catoctin Mountain Park in Thurmont next Sunday. The National Park Service will hold a Winter Wonderland celebration from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Camp Greentop in the park.

Activities include nature walks, interpretive programs, an ice rescue demonstration, videos and a children's activity area, where children can make snowflakes, bird treats, paint a mural or watch a snowmaking demonstration. Two of the camps, built in the 1930s by the WPA, are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

No food or beverages will be served, but visitors are welcome to bring a picnic lunch. Admission is free. Parking will be available at Camp Round Meadow, off the Foxville/Deerfield Road, and free shuttle service will be provided to Camp Greentop. Call (301) 663-9388.
