SHOOTING: Central District -- A 24-year-old West Baltimore resident reported he was in the hallway on the ninth floor of an apartment building in the 1000 block of Argyle Ave. around 9 p.m. Saturday when a man with a handgun fired at least two shots at him. Police said the gunman fled and the victim was taken to the University of Maryland Medical Center, where he was admitted with gunshot wounds to both thighs. Police said they had not determined a motive the shooting.
SHOOTING: Central District -- Police said a city man was walking in the 1900 block of Druid Hill Ave. shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday when a beige-colored car pulled up near him and stopped. The man reported that when someone in the car called out to him, he turned and was walking away when he was shot in the left forearm. The car, police said, sped off. Police said the victim was taken to the emergency room of the University of Maryland Medical Center for treatment and was released. The victim told police he did not recognize the man who shot him.
ASSAULT/ARRESTS: Central District -- Police early Saturday morning arrested three people and today were seeking another on charges of shooting at a man in the 1800 block of Guilford Ave. Police said the incident began in the first block of E. North Ave. around 2:30 a.m. Saturday when the victim, a resident of southwest Baltimore, stared at a man who resented the stare and threatened the victim. After being threatened, the victim got into his car and drove off, followed by another car occupied by two men and two women. During a chase downtown, one of the occupants of the second car fired several shots at the victim's car. Police responding to shots being fired pursued the car with four people in it until it pulled over at Light and Conway streets. The driver jumped out and escaped. Three others were arrested. Charged with assault by shooting and possession of a handgun were Terry Glenn, 22, an out-of town resident; Danita Valentine, 19, of the 800 block of Bradhurst Road, Baltimore; and Terrah Paige, 18, of the 200 block of Championship Court in Owings Mills, Baltimore County. Police said a .44 Magnum handgun was found under a seat in the car and Mr. Glenn had live rounds and empty shell casings in his pockets when arrested. Police said Mr. Glenn denied shooting the gun. Police said the three were held overnight at the police station pending a bail hearing today before a District Court commissioner.
ROBBERY: Central District -- A resident of a high-rise apartment building in West Baltimore reported he was in the first block of Market Place late Saturday night when he was accosted by two men, one with a knife, who demanded his money. Police said the victim gave up $20 to the two men, who escaped on foot.
ROBBERY: Central District -- Police said a resident of Eastern Avenue was walking in the 1100 block of Eutaw St. around 11 p.m. Saturday when he was stopped by two men, one with a silver-plated handgun, who demanded he give up his money. Police said the thieves escaped after the victim gave them more than $100.
ROBBERY: Central District -- Police said two residents of Pennsylvania Avenue were walking in the 1300 block of Myrtle Ave. early yesterday morning when they were stopped by two men, who had a sawed-off shotgun and a handgun. Police said the armed pair demanded their money and escaped with nearly $250 from one victim and nearly $150 from the other.
ROBBERY: Central District -- A 49-year-old resident of West 29th Street reported she was walking in the alley behind the 2600 block of N. Charles St. around 7:30 p.m. yesterday when she was stopped by two men, one with a handgun, who demanded she give up her purse. Police said the men robbed the woman of cash and property, all valued at $100, and drove off in a midsize white car.
ROBBERY: Central District -- Police said a 26-year-old woman was about to enter her car shortly after 4 p.m. yesterday after withdrawing money from a 24-hour automated teller machine outside a bank in the first block of E. North Ave. when she was accosted by two men, one with a handgun, who robbed her and escaped on foot.
ROBBERY: Central District -- A 36-year-old Pimlico resident told police he was in the 1500 block of Pennsylvania Ave. shortly after 9 p.m. yesterday when he was approached from the rear by a man with a sawed-off shotgun who ordered him to give up his money. Police said the victim gave the gunman his wallet containing $85. Police said that during the robbery the gunman pointed the shotgun at the victim's head and threatened to shoot him if he didn't cooperate.
THEFT: Northern District -- An out-of-town man told police that while his car was parked in the 900 block of Druid Park Lake Drive over the weekend someone broke into it and stole two tool boxes containing hand and power tools. Police said the property was valued at more than $1,000 and that two men the victim knows were being sought.
BURGLARY/ARSON: Northern District -- Police said someone used a flammable liquid to set fire to the interior of a home in the 4400 block of St. George's Ave. late Saturday night. No injuries were reported. Police said the fire was reported at 11:41 p.m. and caused an estimated $40,000 damage to the structure and another $10,000 to the contents. No motive was given for the break-in and arson, police said.
ROBBERY: Northern District -- A 14-year-old resident of Huntingdon Avenue told police he was carrying two pizzas near his home shortly before 7:30 p.m. when he was accosted by three older youths, one with a handgun, who robbed him of the pizzas and fled. Police said the victim was not injured and the pizzas were valued at $20.
ROBBERY: Northern District -- A Charles Village resident told police she got off a bus Saturday night and was walking in the first block of E. 29th St. when a man came up from behind and ordered her to give up her purse. Police said the victim complied, handing over cash and property valued at more than $100.
THEFT: Western District -- A Randallstown resident reported that while her car was parked in the 1300 block of Presstman St. yesterday evening someone broke into it and stole clothing valued at nearly $60. Entry into the car was by breaking one of its rear windows.
THEFT: Western District -- Police today were seeking two girls suspected of stealing nearly $700 worth of jewelry from a resident of an apartment building in the 200 block of N. Fremont Ave. The victim told police she left the two girls to watch her apartment while she took her baby to a hospital for an examination. The victim told police that when she returned home she paid the girls and that they left. Later, the victim noticed that several pieces of jewelry and at least two jewelry boxes were missing from her bedroom.
ROBBERY/SHOOTING: Western District -- Police said a resident of North Mount Street was talking on an outdoor telephone in the 1700 block of W. Fayette St. around 5 p.m. yesterday when two men, one with a .38-caliber handgun, approached. Police said the gunman pressed the weapon into the man's side and demanded his money. Police said after the victim gave up more than $100 to the gunman and his accomplice, he was ordered to run. As the robbery victim ran from the scene, the gunman fired one shot that struck the man in the thigh. Police said the victim was taken to a hospital for treatment and was listed in good condition today.
BURGLARY: Western District -- A resident of the 1100 block of N. Mount St. told police that when she arrived home yesterday afternoon she noticed a pane of glass in her front door was shattered and someone had stolen two VCRs valued at $600.
SHOOTING: Southeastern District -- Police said a man was shot in the right shoulder Saturday night by a driver with whom he had argued. The victim, a resident of Frederick Avenue, told police he was riding with another man in the 2900 block of Eastern Ave. shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday when he and the other man became involved in an argument. The victim told police the driver pulled to the curb and told him to get out. Police said that when the victim left the car, the driver made a U-turn and fired a shot at him before driving off. Police said the bullet struck the man in the right shoulder. The injured man was taken to the Francis Scott Key Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
BURGLARY: Southeastern District -- Employees of Babusci's restaurant in the 400 block of High St. reported that someone broke into their building over the weekend and stole a large quantity of coins from a vending machine. Police said someone used a pry tool to enter the building.
BURGLARY/ARREST: Southeastern District -- Police arrested a man yesterday morning and were holding him at the station pending burglary charges. They said someone broke into a house in the 1900 block of Eastern Ave. around 11 a.m. yesterday but fled when the occupant's dog began barking. When neighbors looked to see why the dog was barking, they saw a man leave the house and walk down the street. Later, police arrested a man who fit the description of the man seen leaving and returned him to the scene. There, he was identified as the man who entered the house and was arrested.
ROBBERY: Southeastern District -- Police said a man was walking in the Old Town Mall in the 400 block of N. Gay St. around 10 p.m. yesterday when he was stopped by a man who threatening him with injury and ordered him to give up his money. The victim told police he gave $20 to the man, who escaped on foot.

ROBBERY: White Marsh District -- Two residents of southeast Baltimore reported they were robbed of less than $100 Saturday night by two men who gave them a ride to a motel in the 8200 block of Pulaski Highway. The victims, a man and a woman from Highlandtown, reported that when they arrived at the Siesta Motel at 8201 Pulaski Highway around 8:30 p.m. Saturday they were forced to give up their money to the two men who gave them a ride. After the robbery, the men drove off in a 1980 white Toyota.

ESCAPEE ARRESTED: Pasadena -- Police last week arrested a 29-year-old man who escaped from the county detention center on Dec. 11. Thursday evening, police received information that the escapee, Ellary Burnett, of the 7900 block of Freetown Road, Pasadena, was at or near his home. When police arrived outside the home, they spotted a Toyota sedan pulling into the driveway. The car, police said, was occupied by two men, one of them identified as Mr. Burnett. When police converged on the scene, they arrested Mr. Burnett and the driver, William Womack, whose age and address were not available. A search of the vehicle, which had stolen license plates, resulted in the seizing of a quantity of crack cocaine and several plastic vials used for the distribution of the drug. Several hypodermic needles also were found. In addition to escape, police said Mr. Burnett also was charged with possession of narcotics and narcotic paraphernalia. Police said the charges against Mr. Womack were not available. Information that led to the arrests came from concerned citizens of Freetown, police said.
BURGLARY: Odenton -- A resident of the 1400 block of Annapolis Road reported that someone broke into his home by forcing a door and stole cash and food of undetermined value.
BURGLARY: Severn -- Police said someone broke into a dwelling in the 800 block of Stevenson Road by forcing a door and stole hand and power tools of unknown value.
