John E. Harms Jr. and Associates Inc. has announced the certification of Kimberly Smith as a registered landscape architect.
A native of the Philadelphia area, Smith is registered in both Maryland and Pennsylvania.
She received a bachelor's of science degree in landscape architecture from Pennsylvania State University in 1987 and is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, the American Planning Association and the Foundation for Architecture.

NURSE WINS AWARD
Joyce Harps, RN, has been chosen to receive the St. Agnes Hospital 1991 Vincentian Spirit Award of the Year.
The award, presented on amonthly and annual basis, was started in 1989 to recognize employeeswho exemplify the hospital's philosophy and values.
Harps, an Ellicott City resident, was presented with a vacation travel check.
ARTICLE PUBLISHED
An article by Lisa M. Berlin, president of Taking Care of Business, a Columbia-based management consulting service, was recently published in the November/December 1991 issue of Home-Run Business Newsletter.
The article, "You Already Own a Gold Mine -- Don't Forget Your Existing Customers," discussed ways to retain clients by improving customer service.
Berlin is scheduled to teach a course this month, "Managing a Business from Your Home," with Sarah Pick of Sarah Pick Associates at Howard Community College.
