NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- Seniors Terrance Jacobs and Chuck Lightening scored 26 points each, helping Towson State take an early lead and coast to a 93-54 East Coast Conference victory over Central Connecticut last night.
The Tigers, posting their largest winning margin in a road game, shot 60 percent in the first half to build a 48-23 halftime lead.
Lightening became the 15th Towson State player to score 1,000 career points when he made a three-point basket with 14 minutes, 22 seconds remaining, giving Towson State a 62-33 lead. Lightening has 1,009 career points.
Playing their 10th straight road game, the Tigers took command when Jacobs sparked a 17-0 run early in the game. Jacobs scored 10 points in the streak to give the Tigers a 24-5 lead nine minutes into the game. He scored 23 of his 26 in the first half.
Towson State recorded its largest margin of victory since a 115-70 win over Gettysburg in December 1988.
