ROBBERY: Northern District -- A resident of the 2600 block of W. Belvedere Ave. reported he was robbed of two VCRs early Monday by three men, one armed with a handgun. The victim told police he was home shortly before 1 a.m. when he answered a knock at the door. Upon opening the door, the victim met a man he knew and allowed him inside. Following the first man, police said, were two others, one armed. The three men entered several rooms and left minutes later with the victim's two VCRs. Police said the property was valued at $600 and that the victim was not injured.

THEFT: Northern District -- A resident of the 600 block of Burlington Court in the Edgewood section of Harford County told police that while his truck was parked in the 400 block of E. 30th St. yesterday, someone broke into the vehicle and stole power tools valued at more than $300. Police said entry into the truck was by breaking a rear window.

THEFT: Northern District -- Officials of the Levindale Geriatric Center in the 2400 block of W. Belvedere Ave. reported that someone stole a VCR from a cart that also contained a TV. Police said the VCR was valued at nearly $400.

THEFT: Northern District -- Police said someone broke into a 1986 Volkswagen Jetta while the car was parked in the first block of E. Bishop Lane Monday and stole property valued at $400. The owner of the car, a resident of the 1900 block of Sulgrave Ave., told police the thief stole clothing valued at $400 and that entry was gained by breaking a window.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- Police said a resident of the 100 block of Melrose Ave. was walking in the 6100 block of Bellona Ave. about noon yesterday when she was attacked from behind by two men who struck her in the face and stole the purse she was carrying. Following the robbery, the men got into a car that was parked nearby and drove off. Police said the victim's purse contained cash and personal property, all of unknown value. Police said the victim was not injured.

THEFT: Northern District -- A resident of the 500 block of W. University Parkway told police his car was broken into while parked near his home yesterday and that property valued at $900 was stolen. Police said the thief escaped with a stereo radio, a pair of sunglasses, a camera bag and a 35mm camera. Police said a pry tool was used by the thief to open a window. Then a door was unlocked.

THEFT: Northern District -- Police reported that someone broke into a 1985 Buick while the car was parked in the 3900 block of Tudor Arms Ave. yesterday and stole 25 cassette tapes. The owner of the car, a resident of the 2100 block of Kentucky Ave., told police the tapes were valued at more than $120 and that a window on the car was broken to gain entry.

THEFT: Northern District -- A resident of the 2600 block of Greenmount Ave. reported that someone entered her home yesterday and stole an 18-inch-long gold herringbone necklace from her purse. The victim told police that the jewelry was valued at nearly $300.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Police reported a man armed with a handgun robbed the Kentucky Fried Chicken outlet in the 3800 block of Wilkens Ave. Monday night. Police said the man entered the eating place about 7 p.m. and ordered some french fries. When the clerk placed the order on the counter in front of the man and rang up the sale, the man pulled out a handgun, reached into the open cash register and grabbed a handful of currency. Police said the man then ran out the front door and escaped with an undisclosed sum.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Police said a woman was robbed of $25 Monday night while walking in the 4000 block of Edmondson Ave. The victim, a resident of the 3900 block of Cranston Ave., told police she was walking by herself about 10 p.m. when she was stopped by a man armed with a handgun who demanded her money. Following the robbery, the gunman fled.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Police said a man armed with a handgun stopped a resident of the 4400 block of Dunland Road as he walked in the 500 block of Swann Ave. last night and ordered him to give up his money. Police said the victim complied and that the gunman escaped with less than $5.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- A female resident of the 3700 block of W. Mulberry St. told police she was walking in the 500 block of Allendale Road Monday afternoon when she was stopped by a man armed with a handgun who told her to give up her money. Police said the gunman escaped with less than $60.

SHOOTING: Southwestern District -- Police said a resident of the 3300 block of W. Mulberry St. was about to enter his home yesterday evening when he heard gunshots. Police said the man felt pain in one of his hands and saw he had been shot. The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released. Police said they had no motive in the shooting.

BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- A resident of the 3900 block of Woodridge Road told police that someone broke into his home between Jan. 15 and yesterday and stole property valued at nearly $1,400.

BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- Police reported that someone broke into a dwelling in the 1000 block of Mount Holly St. yesterday and stole property valued at $600. Police said entry was gained through the front window.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- A resident of the 1600 block of Shadyside Ave. reported she was walking in the 4300 block of Woodridge Road about 8 p.m. yesterday when a man assaulted her from behind and stole the purse she was carrying. Police said the man escaped with cash and property, all valued at $50.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Police said three men yesterday robbed Jack's, a fruit and vegetable store in the 1900 block of W. Pratt St., of $30. Police said that after three men entered the store about 2:30 p.m., one of them picked up some food and placed it on the counter. Police said that when the clerk opened the cash register to give the man change, the man grabbed money from the clerk's hands and, together with the others, ran from the store.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Police reported a man armed with a handgun assaulted a woman as she and a friend were walking on Denison Street last night and robbed her of her coat and jewelry, all valued at several hundred dollars. Police said the victim, a resident of the 3300 block of Elgin Ave., and another woman were walking in the 2200 block of Denison St. about 10:30 p.m. when they were stopped by a gunman. Police said that after the man struck one of the women in the face, he forced her to remove her coat and also robbed her of several pieces of jewelry before escaping.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Police said a resident of the 600 block of Homestead St. was walking in the 2400 block of Erdman Ave. near the Clifton Park golf course about 10:30 p.m. yesterday when he was grabbed by two men, one armed with a knife, who robbed him of his wallet and watch. Police said that during the robbery, one of the men pressed the knife to the victim's neck and threatened to cut him if he resisted. Police said the armed man and his accomplice escaped with cash and property, all valued at more than $40.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Police said someone entered a dwelling in the 2000 block of Swansea Road yesterday and stole a compact disc player and several pieces of jewelry. Police said the property was valued at nearly $1,700 and that entry appeared to have been with a key.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 3400 block of Hamilton Ave. reported that after a guest left the house yesterday afternoon, she discovered her 14-karat gold wedding ring was missing. Police said the ring was valued at nearly $1,400 and that the victim was advised to seek a warrant for the person's arrest.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Police reported that property valued at nearly $550 was stolen from an apartment in the 5000 block of Goodnow Road after someone gained entry by forcing the front door open. Police said the intruder escaped with a VCR and a compact disc player.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the of the 5000 block of Plainfield Road reported that someone forced open the door of a pigeon coop in the back of his house and stole 14 pigeons. The owner of the birds told police the pigeons were valued at $400 and that the theft occurred over the weekend.

Baltimore County

BURGLARY: White Marsh District -- Employees of the Sunoco service station in the 8200 block of Pulaski Highway reported that someone broke into the building between Monday night and yesterday morning by knocking out a bay door panel and stole 20 cartons of cigarettes. Police said the cigarettes were valued at nearly $300.

BURGLARY: White Marsh District -- Police reported that someone broke into an office trailer of Superior Mulch in the 12400 block of Pulaski Highway yesterday and stole a telephone, AM-FM cassette tape player and several tapes. Police said the property was valued at $280 and that entry into the trailer was gained by someone breaking out a glass front door.

BURGLARY: White Marsh District -- A resident of the 6800 block of Golden Ring Road reported that someone entered his home over the weekend and stole a compact disc player from the bedroom. Police said the property was valued at more than $100.

Anne Arundel County

ROBBERIES/ARREST: Annapolis -- Police Monday arrested a Gambrills man and charged him with committing three armed robberies of motels. Police identified the motels robbed by a man armed with a knife as the Holiday Inn, Thrift Inn and the Ramada Inn. Police said a man armed with a knife entered the Holiday Inn in the 200 block of Holiday Court shortly before 11 p.m. Sunday and forced a desk clerk to give him the contents of the cash register. Police said the man escaped with an undisclosed sum. Shortly after 2 a.m. Monday, police said, a man answering the description of the person who robbed the Holiday Inn entered the Thrift Inn in the 2500 block of Riva Road and fled minutes later with money from the cash register after brandishing a knife at the desk clerk. At 4:34 a.m. Monday, an employee of the Ramada Inn in the 100 block of Jennifer Road told police a man armed with a knife entered the motel lobby and ordered him to give him money from the cash register. Shortly after the Ramada Inn robbery, police spotted a suspect in the holdups and pursued him. In the parking lot of an auto repair firm in the 100 block of Defense Highway, police apprehended the man after he tried to climb over a barbed wire fence. Police said the man sustained cuts from the fence and bites from a police dog that was used in the pursuit and capture. After being treated at Anne Arundel General Hospital for minor injuries, Thomas Jeffrey Kirsch, a 30-year-old construction worker whose last known address was the 2600 block of Maytime Drive, was charged with three counts each of armed robbery, theft and assault with a deadly weapon. Police said Mr. Kirsch remains in the county Detention Center in lieu of $120,000 bond. Following two of the robberies, police said, Mr. Kirsch reportedly used the money to buy drugs.

BURGLARY: Annapolis -- A resident of the 900 block of Melvin Ave. reported that someone broke into his home through a window and stole several antique dolls. Police said the value of the dolls was not immediately known.
