In a recent survey, The Harford County Sun asked readers whether they supported county efforts to ban adult bookstores. Here are the answers:
IT'S A MATTER OF CHOICE
From: Joseph Gutierrez
Bel Air
Let's get rid of all pornography. We should close down all those evil places. We should make surethat the movie industry and music industry stop showing all that sexin videos and films.
Gee! I guess we should raise the Nazi flag and tear down the Stars and Bars.
I don't believe anything that I've just written. Those people who respond in The Harford County Sun probably do.
No one forces anyone to go into a pornography store. It's a matter of choice as to whether an individual frequents such a place.
The United States is based on
freedom. So long as pornography stores sell items that are not against the law, then they have asmuch of a right to exist as any liquor store or any other business.
BAN, YES; CENSOR, NO
From: Betty House
Jarrettsville
1. I support the ban because I believe there is no place in residential areas for adult bookstores. They attract people that may not be safe for our children, which should be our greatest concern.
2. I do not believe in censorship.
3. If these stores are wanted or needed by some adults, could they not be put in a selected area where they could be regulated? More or less how alcoholic beverages are not sold to minors.

STORE IS DISGUSTING
From: Kelly Frederick
Havre de Grace
Where I live thereis a store near by and I think it is disgusting. It is not too far from homes and almost every time I leave or come home, I have to see it.
I think its even more disgusting to have peep shows. I just do not know how they can get away with it. I get so sick of women being degraded and used.
We just do not need these types of place around.
