Captain Griesbauer leads Loyola swimmers over Catholic, 108-97

Senior team captain Dave Griesbauer won three events, including the 200-yard butterfly in a school-record 2 minutes, 17.89 seconds, as Loyola College defeated visiting Catholic University, 108-97. The winning butterfly time bettered the previous standard by six seconds.

* Yale held off a late Navy (3-6) rally to defeat the Midshipmen, 133-121, in New Haven, Conn. Yale opened a 104-42 lead after winning the meet's first eight events, but the visitors rebounded by winning four of the last five, including the freestyle relay.

Women

Jennifer Hemler, a sophomore from LaPlata, broke the Loyola College record for the 800-yard freestyle by 12 seconds with a clocking of 10:01.8, and the Greyhounds beat visiting Catholic University, 119-86. Hemler also won the 200 backstroke, and teammate Erin O'Donnell, a senior co-captain from Washington, placed first in the 50 and 100 freestyles.
