Button up! A bone-rattling cold front blasted through the state overnight with 40-mph winds, scattered snow flurries and subfreezing temperatures. Tonight, the wind chill factor will drop temperatures to zero to 10 below zero in the Baltimore metropolitan area and 20 to 30 degrees below zero in outlying areas, according to Bill Miller of the National Weather Service. Garrett and Allegany counties in Western Maryland reported that several inches of new snow fell overnight, with winds blowing and drifting it on roads.
