SAFETY HAZARD CLOSES U.S. 29 INTERSECTION

THE BALTIMORE SUN

The State Highway Administration permanently closed the intersectionof River Meadows Drive and U.S. 29 last week, citing a safety hazardcreated by construction of the new Broken Land Parkway interchange.

"Construction got to the point where you couldn't see coming out of that intersection as well as you could before," said Doug Rose, SHAdistrict engineer. "We didn't want anybody to have an accident as they were turning into the community."

Traffic was rerouted Friday on to Gales Lane, Pushcart Way, Camelback Lane, Stevens Forest Road and Owen Brown Road.

The new high-speed interchange for Broken Land Parkway, set for completion in September, will be finished along with another overpass intersection for Seneca Drive. The two interchanges will eliminate traffic signals at Seneca Drive, Owen Brown Road and South Entrance Road.
